Companions on a Healing Journey: Recovery Retreat

Addiction takes many forms and affects all of us - our families and society – and now reaching crisis proportions.  This timely workshop/retreat is for anyone interested in learning more about the addictive process, a spirituality of recovery, inner healing and the 12 Step program. It will focus on the importance of fellowship, the power of prayer and the need to befriend our shadow as a way of both preventing and dealing with addiction. Music, art, keynote presentations, witnessing, ritual, laughter and opportunity for sharing will provide an experience that is informative, formative and transformative. (Subsidy request forms available if financial help is needed.)

Facilitated by: 

Archbishop Emeritus Sylvain Lavoie is a missionary Oblate who has spent over 30 years ministering among the aboriginal peoples of north and central Saskatchewan.  Part of that ministry has been giving workshops and retreats on various topics of spirituality and on the 12 Steps. He now serves as chaplain and spiritual director at Star of the North Retreat Center in St. Albert, Alberta. 

Justin R. has been an active member of the Recovery Community for a little over 4 years. He has worked with over 37 different men and women in the 12 Step program. He is currently the Executive Director of St. Dismas House Society, which works with addicts in early recovery to achieve the goal of attending treatment with a lower risk of relapse prior to attending treatment.
