Knitting for Mind, Body, and Soul

Research shows that knitting can reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure and heart rate, and help alleviate depression and chronic pain. Join us to learn this timeless craft, reap the benefits in your physical and spiritual self, and make beautiful items for yourself, your loved ones, or communities in need. You are welcome to join us whether you are a beginner or a long-time knitter looking for a knitting circle. We will start each evening with a reflection followed by time to learn, knit, relax and laugh.

Session 1: (September 12 - October 17) Beginner Skills – Cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease, and cast off, working on project.

Session 2: (October 24 - December 5) Intermediate Skills – Pattern stitches, colour work, working off a graph, working on a pattern.

Knitting Circle: (September 12 - December 5) -  Are you already an experienced knitter, but enjoy knitting with others? Join either session and come enjoy laughter, companionship and of course knitting!

Facilitator:

Sarah Kelly has been knitting for over forty years, learning the craft from her mother. Through the years knitting has taught her many life lessons and has become an outlet for her creative side and a calming tool for a busy world. She hopes to pass on this ancient craft and its therapeutic benefits.
